Admin Guide: Recognitions Module Basics

Set up Recognitions to celebrate contributions, define types, and build a culture of appreciation.

Written by Sue

The Recognitions module allows employees to recognize and celebrate their colleagues for their contributions, achievements, and milestones.

Admins can configure the module to control how recognitions are shared, whether recognition points and rewards are available, how birthday and anniversary recognitions work, and how recognition content is displayed across the organization.

Accessing Recognitions Settings

To access the Recognitions settings:

  1. Go to Admin Center.

  2. Select Modules.

  3. Select Recognitions.

From here, you can enable the Recognitions module, customize recognition badges, configure rewards and recognition points, manage birthday and anniversary recognitions, and adjust other recognition settings.

Enable the Recognitions Module

Use the Enable Module toggle at the top of the page to turn the Recognitions module on or off for your organization.

When the module is enabled, users can access the Recognitions functionality available to them based on your organization's settings and permissions.

Recommended Configurations

The best Recognitions configuration depends on how your organization wants to celebrate employees and whether you want recognition to include rewards or points.

For a simple recognition program

Enable the Recognitions module and customize your recognition badges to reflect your organization's values and the types of contributions you want employees to celebrate.

You can leave Badge points disabled if you want recognition to focus on appreciation rather than a points-based reward system.

For a points-based recognition program

Enable Badge points if employees should be able to award points alongside recognition.

If you want to control how many points employees can distribute, enable Enable monthly giveable recognition point limit and configure the Monthly limit per user.

This can help ensure that recognition points are distributed consistently throughout the month.

For recognition rewards

Enable Rewards if employees should be able to redeem recognition points for rewards.

Configure your available rewards through Manage rewards and review redemption requests through See/Approve reward requests.

If your organization uses Tango Card, you can also configure the Reward card integration to provide additional reward redemption options.

For employee milestones

Enable birthday recognitions if you want Teamflect to automatically recognize employees on their birthdays.

For work anniversaries, configure Anniversary recognition and use Manage anniversary recognitions to customize the recognition experience.

You can also review upcoming birthdays and anniversaries to help ensure milestone recognitions are properly configured.

For private or sensitive recognition

Enable Enable private recognitions if employees should be able to share recognition privately with the recipient and the recipient's manager.

This can be useful when recognition contains personal or more sensitive context that may not be appropriate for a wider audience.

For recognition visibility and engagement

Enable the Recognition Leaderboard if you want to make recognition activity more visible and encourage employees to participate more actively in the recognition program.

If you want every recognition to include context, enable Require comments while sharing new recognitions.

For temporarily pausing recognition

Use Prevent sending new recognitions when you need to temporarily stop users from creating new recognitions without disabling the entire Recognitions module.

This can be useful during periods of configuration, maintenance, or organizational changes.

For recognition activity in Microsoft Teams

Configure Share Recognitions on Teams if you want recognition activity to be shared with a dedicated Teams channel.

This can help make employee recognition more visible and encourage organization-wide participation.

Final Thoughts

The Recognitions module can be configured to support different recognition programs, from simple peer-to-peer appreciation to points-based rewards and automated milestone celebrations.

When configuring the module, consider how your organization wants employees to recognize, celebrate, and reward one another. Settings such as recognition points, monthly limits, rewards, private recognitions, leaderboards, and birthday and anniversary recognitions can be enabled based on your organization's recognition practices.

We recommend reviewing these settings regularly to ensure the Recognitions module continues to support your organization's culture and recognition goals.
