When requesting feedback from your direct reports, controlling who can see the feedback request and responses helps keep the process focused and relevant. Teamflect lets you choose visibility settings so you can limit access to only the intended participants or broaden it to include others like managers or collaborators.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to configure visibility options for feedback requests involving your direct reports, what each visibility level means, and how it affects who can view responses.

Step-by-Step Guide to Controlling Who Sees Feedback in Teamflect

Step 1: Open the Feedback module

Navigate to the Feedback module from the left-hand menu in the Teamflect app.

Step 2: Click the “New Feedback” button

In the top-right corner of the screen, click the New Feedback button to begin.

Step 3: Choose “Ask for feedback” and select “Someone on my team”

In the pop-up, click Ask for feedback, then choose Someone on my team to request feedback for one of your direct reports.

Step 4: Set the visibility of the feedback

Once you’ve selected the recipient, feedback template, and optional message, scroll to the Visibility section. Choose from the following options:

  • Feedback results are visible to me only
Only you (the requester) can see the responses and the identity of the feedback provider.

  • Feedback results are visible to me and the feedback recipient
Both you and your direct report can view the feedback and the identity of the submitter.

  • Feedback results are visible to me and anonymously visible to the feedback recipient
You can view full details, but the feedback will appear anonymous to the recipient.

Step 5: Submit the feedback request

After choosing the appropriate visibility level, click the Request button to send the feedback request.

When to Adjust Feedback Visibility

Encourage open and honest input

  • Use anonymous visibility when feedback is sensitive and you want the recipient to focus on the content, not the source.

Promote transparency and shared learning

  • Allow both the manager and recipient to see feedback openly to foster growth and trust.

Protect feedback providers when necessary

  • Limit visibility to yourself when feedback needs to be filtered or reviewed before sharing with the employee.

Beneficial Use Cases

1. Manager-Only Feedback

When a manager wants to gather feedback from a direct report without involving other stakeholders, setting the visibility to “Manager Only” ensures that only the manager can see the request and responses. This encourages candid feedback while maintaining privacy.

2. Collaborative Feedback Across Teams

For cross-functional projects, you may want multiple managers or peers to view the feedback request. Adjusting visibility to include selected collaborators allows stakeholders to stay informed and provides a broader perspective on performance or progress.

3. Transparent Development Reviews

If your organization encourages openness, you can make feedback visible to the direct report and relevant managers. This promotes transparency, helps employees understand how they’re perceived, and supports meaningful development discussions.

Final Thoughts

Visibility settings in Teamflect give you the flexibility to balance transparency, privacy, and impact. Whether you're fostering open dialogue or protecting anonymity, these controls ensure your feedback process is both thoughtful and effective.
