How to Use 360-Degree Feedback in Reviews Without Rolling Out the Feedback Module

Written by Sue

If your organization uses the 360-Degree Feedback component within review cycles but is not yet ready to fully roll out the Feedback module to employees, there is an important configuration to be aware of.

Historically, it was possible to use 360-degree feedback in reviews even when the Feedback module was disabled. However, this behavior has changed due to platform-wide improvements that addressed several inconsistencies and access issues.

As a result, users who are asked to provide feedback as part of a review cycle must now have access to the Feedback module in order to open, complete, and submit their feedback requests.

Recommended Configuration

If you would like to continue using 360-degree feedback in reviews while preventing employees from sending ad-hoc feedback requests, we recommend the following setup.

Step 1: Enable the Feedback Module

The Feedback module must remain enabled for users to access and submit review-related feedback requests.

Step 2: Restrict Feedback Templates

  1. Open your Teamflect Admin Center.

  2. Navigate to Feedback > Feedback Templates.

  3. Edit each feedback template.

  4. Change the template type to: Official - By Teamflect admins to everyone

  5. Repeat this process for all feedback templates in your account.

Step 3: Disable Free-Form Feedback

Navigate to your Feedback module settings and disable:

Allow free-form feedback

What This Configuration Achieves

With these settings in place:

  • Users can still receive and submit feedback requests generated through review cycles.

  • Non-admin users cannot create ad-hoc feedback requests using the New Feedback button.

  • Employees are prevented from sending instant feedback outside of the structured review process.

  • Administrators retain full control over feedback templates and feedback workflows.

Frequently Asked Question

Can I use 360-degree feedback in reviews while keeping the Feedback module disabled?

No. Access to feedback requests is now dependent on the Feedback module being enabled. At this time, keeping the Feedback module disabled is not compatible with the 360-degree feedback functionality used within review cycles.

Can Teamflect restore the previous behavior?

There are currently no plans to restore the previous behavior. The current logic was introduced to address issues and inconsistencies that existed under the older approach.

Best Practice

If you plan to introduce the Feedback module at a later stage, keeping it enabled while restricting templates and disabling free-form feedback is the best way to support 360-degree reviews without exposing a fully open feedback experience to employees.
