Allow managers to request private feedback about their direct reports
Note: This article is intended for Teamflect administrators only.
In Teamflect, you can control whether managers are able to request private feedback about their direct reports — meaning the feedback provider’s input is shared only with the manager and not visible to the employee. This setting gives your organization flexibility over how feedback is collected and who can see it, helping support discreet or sensitive conversations when needed.
This article explains how Teamflect administrators can enable the private feedback option for managers and what happens when it’s turned on or off.
Default Behavior in Teamflect
✅ When enabled:
Managers can ask for feedback about their direct reports from other users (internal or external). The direct report will not see the submitted feedback.
❌ When disabled:
All feedback requested about a direct report will be visible to both the manager and the direct report. The option to make it private will be hidden.
Step-by-Step: Enable Manager-Initiated Private Feedback
Step 1: Access the Admin Center and Open the Feedback Module
Go to https://admin.teamflect.com and log in using your admin credentials.
From the left-hand menu, click Modules, then select the Feedback tab.
Step 2: Enable the private feedback setting
Find the option labeled “Allow managers to request private feedback about their direct reports” and toggle it ON.
✅ When enabled: Managers will see the "Feedback results are only visible to me" visibility option when creating requests about their direct reports. The direct report will not see the submitted feedback.
❌ When disabled: The private visibility option is hidden. All feedback requested will be visible to both the manager and the direct report.
HR-Focused Use Cases
1. Gather upward or peer feedback discreetly
Managers can collect feedback without alerting the employee, improving feedback quality and candor.
2. Prepare for performance reviews or calibration
Use private feedback to inform evaluation processes without prematurely disclosing feedback.
3. Address sensitive performance concerns
Allows managers to investigate potential issues or conflicts via confidential input before taking formal steps.
Final Thoughts
This setting gives your managers the ability to collect private, targeted feedback to inform development, evaluations, or leadership reviews. As an admin, toggling this feature ensures your feedback practices align with internal privacy standards.
