What Are Relationships in Teamflect?
In Teamflect, the Relationships feature (formerly called “Focus People”) lets you track and manage key professional connections beyond your direct reporting line. This can include mentors, mentees, project leads, dotted-line managers, or onboarding buddies.
You’ll still see your manager and direct reports under “My Team” (on the homepage). But the Relationships section gives you a broader and more flexible view of the people you work closely with — across departments or projects.
If your manager or direct reports do not appear automatically, your organization may need to configure its organizational chart. Share this guide to setting up your team in Teamflect with your IT administrator for help.
For Administrators
Administrators can create relationships from Admin Center. They can choose a relationship type, select the participants, and save the relationship.
To add someone under Relationships:
Navigate to the Relationships page (in the Admin Center: Users > Relationships).
Click “Add relationship”
Choose a relationship type (e.g., Mentor-Mentee, Dotted Line Manager).
Select the participants.
Click Save.
Depending on the type, the other person may:
Simply be added to your My Team view,
Or receive a notification or approval request, if the tag grants access to private performance data.
Relationship types are fully customizable by your Teamflect Administrators. Access permissions, naming, and visibility can all be configured.
How Relationship Permissions Work
The access granted depends on the relationship type selected and whether Managerial Access is enabled. When access to private performance data is requested, the other participant must approve the relationship before access is granted.
Permission | Managerial Access OFF | Managerial Access ON |
Private goals | Not granted through this relationship | Accessible after approval |
Reviews | Not granted through this relationship | Accessible after approval |
Private feedback | Not granted through this relationship | Accessible after approval |
Private recognitions | Not granted through this relationship | Accessible after approval |
Approval required | No | Yes |
Teamflect administrators can configure relationship types and their access permissions in the Admin Center. For step-by-step instructions, see How to Edit Relationship Types in Teamflect
