Why can't I see my direct report's self-review comments/ratings?

If you’re unable to view your direct report’s self-review comments or ratings, there are a few common reasons. Understanding these will help you navigate the review process more effectively.

1. Review Submission Status

The most common reason is that your direct report hasn’t submitted their self-review yet.

  • If the status is “Waiting for Self-Review”, the reviewee is still completing their input.

  • Self-reviews must be submitted before they become visible to reviewers.

  • This ensures employees have the opportunity to provide full and thoughtful responses before sharing them.

2. Review Design and Visibility Settings

Another possibility relates to how the review template was designed:

  • Your Teamflect administrators configure the visibility of self-review responses.

  • In some templates, reviewers can only see certain sections of the self-review.

  • In others, nothing is visible until after the reviewer submits their part.

These rules are determined by your organization’s chosen review setup.

  1. Some reviews are structured so that only certain parts of the self-review are visible to the reviewer,

  2. Or possibly not at all until you, as the reviewer, submit your part of the review. This can depend on how your organization has set up the review process in Teamflect.

Note #1: For clarification, please reach out to your Teamflect Administrators. If you're unsure who they are, refer to the resource here.

Note #2: If your Teamflect admins wish to modify configurations and apply them to existing cycles, please direct them to the resource here.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Check submission status: Verify whether the self-review has been submitted.

  • Review template settings: Confirm with your Teamflect Admins how visibility is configured.

  • Contact support: If issues remain, reach out to [email protected].

Use Cases

  • Protecting confidentiality: Some organizations hide self-review inputs until manager reviews are submitted, to avoid bias.

  • Encouraging thoughtful input: Delaying visibility can ensure employees write candid reflections.

  • Balancing fairness: Visibility rules help maintain consistency across all review cycles.

Best Practice

As a manager, if you can’t see your direct report’s self-review, wait until submission or check with your admins before escalating. This avoids confusion and ensures compliance with your company’s review process.
