Overview

In Teamflect, tasks can be linked to goals to show how everyday work contributes to larger objectives and overall progress. However, there may be situations where a task no longer supports a specific goal or needs to be reassigned elsewhere. In those cases, you can easily remove the connection between the task and the goal.

This guide walks you through how to unlink a task from a goal so your goal tracking remains accurate and only reflects relevant work.

How to Unrelate a Task and a Goal

1. Open the Task

  • Navigate to the Tasks module or locate the task from within your dashboard.

  • Click on the task card to open its details.

2. Find the Related Goal Section

Look for the Related Goal section on the task detail card.

3. Click “Unlink”

  • Select Unlink to remove the association between the task and the goal.

  • The task will now stand alone without contributing to the goal’s progress.

HR-Focused Use Cases

1. Realigning Tasks to New Goals

When priorities shift, HR and managers can ensure that work is properly tied to updated objectives. Unlinking a task from its old goal prevents duplicate work and enables reassignment to the correct initiative.

2. Cleaning Up Irrelevant or Completed Work

Completed tasks that no longer influence a goal can be unlinked, keeping progress tracking clean. This avoids inflated metrics and ensures reviews focus only on active, relevant contributions.

3. Adapting to Changing Strategies

As organizational goals evolve, some tasks may become less relevant. By unlinking them, HR ensures that reporting remains aligned with the current scope, helping leaders evaluate progress against the most up-to-date strategy.

Final Thoughts

The ability to unlink tasks from goals gives managers and employees flexibility to keep goal tracking accurate and strategy focused. It prevents outdated or irrelevant work from skewing progress data, ensuring fair evaluations and better alignment with evolving business priorities.
