Overview

The Calibration Process in Teamflect lets HR or designated reviewers check and adjust performance review ratings before employees see them. This helps make sure scores are fair and consistent across teams or departments.

Setting Up Calibration

  1. Go to Admin Center > Modules > Reviews.

  2. Edit an existing review template (or create a new one).

  3. In the Finalization Flow step, toggle Calibration On.

Once Calibration is turned on, review results submitted by reviewers will first go to Teamflect Administrators (or designated calibration supervisors) for calibration before reaching the reviewees.

During the Calibration Process

  • When a reviewer submits their evaluation, it is sent to the calibration supervisor.

  • The calibrator can adjust scores where necessary.

  • During this stage, the reviewee sees nothing.

  • All changes remain internal until the review is finalized.

Finalizing the Review

There are two ways calibration can be finalized:

πŸ…° Scenario 1: Finalized by the Calibration Supervisor

  • The supervisor clicks Complete Calibration & Finalize after adjustments.

  • Both reviewer and reviewee gain access to the calibrated results at the same time.

  • Best for organizations needing centralized control.

πŸ…± Scenario 2: Finalized by the Reviewer

  • The supervisor clicks Finalize to send results back to the reviewer.

  • The reviewer sees the calibrated scores and clicks Finalize.

  • Best when reviewers should discuss the results directly with their employees.

πŸ”’ Note: Reviewers cannot edit calibrated scores unless this option is enabled in the review template.

They can only view and release them unless the following option in review template is selected to give the reviewers a chance to change the calibrated results and finalize it themselves.

What Each Role Sees

Here’s how the experience plays out for each role:

Role

What They See

Reviewee

Nothing during calibration; sees the final calibrated results once released.

Reviewer

Sees their own submission; later sees calibrated scores to release if responsible.

Calibration Supervisor

Sees all pending reviews, adjusts scores, then either finalizes or sends back.

HR Use Cases

1. Fair Performance Reviews

Calibration prevents rating bias by ensuring scores are balanced across teams and departments.

2. Consistent Standards

HR can enforce a uniform evaluation framework, making comparisons across roles and units more reliable.

3. Informed Talent Decisions

Calibrated reviews provide leadership with standardized, trustworthy data for promotions, succession planning, and development programs.

Final Thoughts

Enabling calibration in Teamflect adds an important layer of oversight and fairness to performance reviews. Whether finalized directly by calibration supervisors or routed back to reviewers, the process ensures consistent standards and transparent outcomes across the organization.
