eNPS Questions: Wording, Scale, and Setup in Teamflect

The eNPS question asks employees how likely they are to recommend your company as a place to work, on a 0 to 10 scale. See wording, examples, and setup.

Employee Net Promoter Score, or eNPS, measures how likely your employees
are to recommend the company as a place to work. It uses one rating
question on a 0 to 10 scale, and Teamflect includes it as a built-in
question type in the Surveys module.

The eNPS Question and the 0 to 10 Scale

The standard eNPS question is: "On a scale of 0 to 10, how likely are you to
recommend our company as a place to work?''

Most organizations keep the wording close to that sentence so results stay
comparable between rounds. Common variations swap "our company" for the company name, or "a place to work" for "a great place to work".

Answers are grouped into three bands:

  • Promoters: 9 and 10. Employees who speak well of the company without being asked.

  • Passives: 7 and 8. Satisfied but not committed. They are counted in the total but not in the score.

  • Detractors: 0 through 6. Employees whose experience is likely to reach other people.

The rating question is almost always paired with one open text question, because
the number tells you where you stand and the comment tells you why.

Follow-Up Questions to Ask After the Score

One open question after the rating turns a number into something you can act
on.

Ask one or two of these, not all of them:

  • What is the main reason for the score you gave?

  • What would need to change for you to give a higher score?

  • What do you value most about working here?

  • What is the most frustrating part of your week?

  • Do you have what you need to do your job well?

  • How well does your manager support your development?

  • Would you recommend your own team to someone in another department?

  • Is there anything we should have asked you but did not?

Keep the set short and keep it the same between rounds. Changing the follow-up
questions every cycle makes the comments impossible to compare over time.
