What Happens When You Leave a Comment on a Task in Teamflect
When you leave a comment on a task, the task creator will get a notification.
Understanding Task Comment Visibility and Notifications
If you were assigned an individually assigned task (you can learn more about individually assigned and group tasks here), the comments that you leave will only notify the creator of the task. The other task assignees will not see your comments.
However, if you were assigned a group task, all the members of the group task will get notified whenever you leave a comment as it is a task that you are supposed to complete together.
In a group task scenario, all the comments will be visible to all the task assignees.
Use Cases:
Use Case 1: Clarifying Task Instructions
When a team member needs clarification on requirements or wants to give updates, they can leave a comment on the task. The task creator (or, for group tasks, all assignees) will be notified, ensuring the conversation is tied directly to the relevant task. This keeps the discussion contextual and avoids fragmented communication via email or chat.
Use Case 2: Collaborative Feedback in Group Tasks
In a group task, team members can leave comments that everyone sees, enabling collaborative feedback, status updates, or questions in one shared thread. Because all assignees are notified, no one is left out of the loop. This fosters real-time collaboration and transparency on shared responsibilities.
Use Case 3: Controlled Visibility in Individual Tasks
If a task is individually assigned (not a group task), only the task creator gets notifications and others do not see those comments. This is useful when sensitive or one-on-one discussions are needed without involving other assignees. It ensures feedback or clarifications stay contained to the relevant participants.
