Customizing goal terminology in Teamflect lets you change the labels used in the platform—like Goals, Subgoals, or Objectives—so the language matches your organization’s culture. This ensures employees see familiar terms, improving clarity and adoption while keeping the underlying workflows intact.
If your organization prefers to use terms like OKRs instead of Goals, or Key Results instead of Subgoals, you can customize the labels used across the Goals module. This makes the platform feel more aligned with your culture and easier for employees to adopt.
This feature allows eligible admins to select from a set of predefined alternatives for key terms used across Teamflect.

How to customize Goal terminology
Go to the Admin Center at https://admin.teamflect.com/#/goalsettings.
Open the Goals tab in the left-hand menu.
Find the Custom Terminology section.
Click to open the customization window.
For each label, select your preferred option from the dropdown menus:
Module Title (e.g., "Goals", "OKRs", etc.): To customize the navigation menu within the app.
Goal Name (e.g., "Goal", "Objective"): To customize the terminology while assigning new goals and navigating through the tabs.
Subgoal Name (e.g., "Subgoal", "Key Result"): To customize the ''Subgoals'' section located on the goal card.
Click Save to apply your selections.
Where Will These Changes Appear?
Once saved, terminology updates will apply across most user-facing areas, including:
The Goals module
User profiles
Some notifications and Microsoft Teams chat interactions
⚠️ Note: These updates do not change the wording inside the Admin Center itself.
Beneficial Use Cases
Roll out OKRs without changing your workflows
Set Module Title = OKRs, Goal Name = Objective, Subgoal Name = Key Result so the app uses OKR language end-to-end for employees, while admin settings stay the same.
Keep “Goals” but introduce Key Results
Keep Module Title = Goals, Goal Name = Goal, set Subgoal Name = Key Result to add KR language where it matters without a full OKR rebrand.
Align with existing policy wording
If your HR policy and review forms say Objectives, set Goal Name = Objective (and optionally Module Title = OKRs) so employees see the same terms across the product and your documentation.
Best Practices
Smooth Adoption of OKRs
Rename Goals to OKRs when rolling out an OKR framework, ensuring employees feel the system supports—not contradicts—the strategy.
Consistency Across Performance Reviews
Align terminology with the wording used in review forms or HR policies to reduce misinterpretation.
Change Management
Communicate terminology changes before applying them so employees understand the new labels and don’t get lost.
Best Practice: Use terminology customization to reflect your culture, but avoid frequent changes—it can create confusion and disrupt adoption.
